Adventures in Excellence I & II

 Adventures in Excellence is Designed for individual personal growth
The course content is appropriate for all levels of Social Work Practice

This dynamic, empowering seminar is designed to infuse your personal and professional life with new energy and give you the tools you need to create a more exciting, joyful, rewarding experience. This program is designed for individuals who want more out of life-quickly.

This is not therapy, nor does it train the use of the seminar techniques, it is personal development training designed to create a container of safety and trust for the participants to increase their emotional intelligence.

Tailored specifically to your own strengths and weaknesses, Adventures in Excellence gives you the opportunity to create new passion for living by helping you inventory you professional life, marital and family life, peer and career relationships.  

Through this self-guided training, you decide what is working – and what isn’t. The Excellence Adventure Weekend helps you design a personal action plan to make concrete change, stay accountable, and achieve an entirely new level of commitment to yourself and others.

  

What You Will Experience:

Two weekends of experiential adventure training separated by 30 days of support for putting your new skills into action. The weekends consist of a series of activities known as games. The learning exercises take place within and outside the training room during the entire weekend. To receive credit and complete the training, students are expected to be present for all sessions and stay with their group for meals and overnight.

  • How to collapse negative, self-defeating patterns of behavior
  • How to creatively solve your historically unsolvable problems

  • How to create effective outcomes through group dynamics
  • How to speak confidently in front of a group and inspire others

Adventures in Excellence I Syllabus

  • The Suffering Comfort Zone: A model for how we stay stuck in our problems
  • Johari’s Window: A model for learning self-awareness
  • The Victim Game:Participants confront past experiences as a victim. Releasing the stuffed emotions gives the participants’ freedom and expanded energy.
  • The Parent Game:The game encourages understanding of the parental legacy and making peace with ones parents.
  • The Medicine Game:Participants to become aware of how they treat others and their tendencies to criticize and judge others.
  • The Trust Game:Increases participants’ awareness of self-trust their level of trust with others.
  • The Seven Self-Defeating Games:Identify and understand self-defeating behaviors in relationships. 
  • The Tough Love Game: Participants, in a loving way, help each other see their biggest areas of denial so that they can collapse old behaviors.
  • The Giver/Taker Game:Participants assess whether they are a giver or a taker and the social implications these judgments hold for them.
  • The Game of Life:The final outcome of the game is emotionally and mentally letting go of a critical past incident and the belief system that was generated from it.  A new constructive pattern is identified by the participant.

Adventures in Excellence II Syllabus 

  • The Trap Game: Identified when you feel trapped and what ways to solve the problem.
  • The Seven Dragons:Identify the seven basic fears and their coping behavior patterns.
  • The Five Year Old Story: Identify an emotionally charged incident that happened in early childhood. Move from denial into an “aha” experience.
  • The “I Experience You As” and My Five Areas of Denial:An exercise in being honest with others and ourselves.
  • The Poem Game:Create a poem that best describes their adversarial side and anchors new responses to old behavioral triggers and patterns.
  • Experience the Freedom: Guided visualization experiencing the freedom of not having to put on the false front.
  • Shifting Our Mood Game:How to change ones mood at will.  A shift from the seriousness of previous games and move into joy, happiness and fun.
  • The Can/Can’t Game:A creativity and problem solving exercise.  Continues to build team relationships within the group.
  • Making New Agreements:Design new agreements and new life strategies in the area of well being, relationships, prosperity, and life’s purpose.
  • The Gifts I See In You Are: The participants help each other see their strengths with the same honesty as they did their weaknesses.
  • Completing a Hurtful Relationship:This is another opportunity for the participants to get honest and get real about their important relationships.

Price:

  • Both weekends only: $490.00 USD When paid by the early registration date.
  • Adventures I:  $800.00 USD
  • Adventures II: $800.00 USD

Save $100 USD when you pay for both Adventures I and II by early registration dead line.

Full-Time Students: $500 USD early registration for both weekends

  • Registration: $100 USD Non-refundable deposit with registration
  • Hotel fees and meals not included. Hotel fees not to exceed $139 USD

(AIE I is approved by the Michigan Social Work Continuing Education Collaborative for 22 CE Clock Hours.  Course Approval # 052907-00.)

Adventures in Excellence Weekend II:
Friday, 2:30 pm – Sunday, 5:00 pm

(AIE II is approved by the Michigan Social Work Continuing Education Collaborative for 18 CE Clock Hours.  Course Approval # 052907-00.)
